BACKWOODS COOKING

posted 19 Sep 2014, 02:04 by Gavin Horner

A message from Liz Welch - Acting Akela:

I just wanted to say how proud I am of all the Cubs who came to the Backwoods Cooking night (not Backwards) last night.  We were able to -
1.  Cook bacon in a frying pan on an open fire.
2.  Cook chocolate bananas in tin foil.

The evening was run under the the careful supervision of Ian (our GSL), Kevin (Chil) and Rikki (our ADC Scouts).   They were supported by a grandparent (Peter) and a mum (Lisa) who appeared to enjoy the evening as much as the Cubs.

I cannot thank my Young Leader Team enough (Hannah, Serena and Peter) aka Raksha, Hatti and Baloo for running an amazing camp fire at the end of the evening and for helping with the cooking on the fires.

What a great team effort, I can't thank you all enough.

Lastly I would like to thank all the Cubs for being so well behaved and for singing so beautifully.  Not only did they pass their Backwoods Cooking badge, but also worked towards Outdoor Challenge, Campers Badge and Promise Challenge.

Well done to everyone and thank you sincerely to those who gave up their evening to assist in running this pack meeting.
